Stureby was the original southern terminal for line 19. A provisional station here opened on 9 September 1951, and the current station opened on 1 October 1953.

This photo shows the west side of the station; the station itself is elevated, with its
only entrance under the tracks, indicated by signs on either side; one sign is
visible here.

This view shows the station sign on the west side of the station more clearly.

Here is a shot of some houses on the west side of the station. There is no
high-density housing around Stureby; it's pretty much all single-family
detached houses.

This view looks timetable south along the tracks, on the east side of the
station. Again, nothing but single-family detached houses.

Taken just inside the doors to the platform, at the top of the stairs up from
the ticket hall. A northbound train is seen arriving.

the platform.

This view shows the exit from the platform. Also, note the closed-
circuit television at the upper left, suspended from the platform roof;
drivers on southbound trains use this monitor to spot the platform.

A long view of the platform, looking timetable north.

A southbound train arriving at Stureby.
Note also the closed-circuit television at this end (the north end)
of the platform, enclosed in a sort of box on a stand. This is the
other type of closed-circuit monitor used on the tunnelbana, and
here it's used by the drivers of northbound trains. Since it requires
the driver to take several steps out of the cab (which can be
hazardous if the platform is icy, and is always time-consuming),
this type of monitor is being phased out in favor of the roof-mounted
type shown a couple of pictures above this one.
